Submission Cycles
 
Call for papers Fall 2011 
The GIF Board of Governors, at its meeting on June 21st, 2011, has decided on the following alternating submission cycles:
One year GIF will be open to applications in the Life Sciences, Medicine and the Social Sciences, and in the next year accept applications in the Exact Sciences, Engineering and the Humanities.
This year, the regular program is open for submission in the following areas:
Exact Sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Material Sciences, Technology (Engineering), Mathematics, Computer sciences, Geo-Earth and Environmental Sciences.
Humanities: History, Archaeology, Literature, Philosophy and related fields.
The Young Scientists Program is open for submissions in all academic fields.
The following applies for both programs: Please send ONLY ONE hardcopy for each proposal; there is no need for a CD. The hardcopy should arrive at the GIF main office in Jerusalem no later than November 30th.
The GIF website is open from August 1st, 2011, for submissions to both programs.

Supported Areas of Research
In accordance with the goals and objectives established by its Board of Governors, the Foundation supports cooperative research projects of mutual interest to the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Israel. The projects shall concern science and technology for peaceful purposes only. Both basic and applied research projects in all areas will be considered equally with no predetermined quotas.
Applicants should be aware that the Foundation is only able to fund a relatively small number of new projects every year.
The success rate in 2011 was 34%.
