According to the GIF Grant Agreement (GIF Regular Program, § 8 / GIF Young Scientists’ Program, § 10) PIs agree that they shall be required to commit themselves to provide an adequate level of IPR protection and enforcement. They will have to guarantee an equitable and fair treatment regarding the ownership of and access to intellectual property generated to the mutual benefit of all parties involved. PIs are obliged to define the owner of as well as the access rights to intellectual property by clear rules and agree that these rules, together with any national regulations which may affect the transfer of knowledge, are made easily available to all (partners).
Scientific and technological information of a non-proprietary nature arising from the cooperative activities may be made available to the public through customary channels.
In the GIF Regular Program
  • The Project Partners shall provide all participants with similar rights, especially as regards access to IPR and related use restrictions.
  • The Project Partners furthermore agree to take steps to improve the coherence of their respective ownership regimes as regards intellectual property rights in such a way as to facilitate the co-operation and knowledge transfer.
  • The contractual arrangements between Project Partners should be in accordance with the internal laws, regulations, rules, procedures and mechanisms of their respective State.
