Extension of Grants

GIF may approve the extension of a project in the GIF Young Scientists’ Program by up to 6 months, on the condition that no further funds are needed in addition to the originally approved budget. The extension must be requested on the relevant GIF form, which can be found here: http://www.gif.org.il/pages/grantees/forms.aspx.
The form must be submitted no later than 3 months prior to the expiry of the originally approved funding period.
 
The total duration of a Grant in the GIF Young Scientists’ Program cannot exceed 18 months.
 
The final financial and scientific reports are due no later than 3 months after the end of the extension period.
 
Any surplus funds still remaining after this period must be returned to GIF within 60 days after the date of the final balance letter by the financial department of the GIF requesting the return of surplus funds.
 

Note on Parental Leave:

Periods of parental leave are not counted as part of the no-cost extension period.
Young Scientist Grantees can postpone the starting date of their grant or freeze their grant for the period of parental leave.

In order to postpone the starting date of the grant / freeze the grant, Young Scientists’ Grantees must:
1) inform GIF of the requested postponement / freezing of the grant in due time in advance
2) inform GIF of the date when work of the Grant will start/resume.
3) submit written documentation of the duration of the parental leave at the end of the leave period.​
