First call for proposals in the new GIF Young Scientists' Program
The new GIF Young Scientists’ Program supports young researchers, with
or without a research partner in the other country, for a one-year project,
with a budget of between EUR 25–75k, depending on the number of principal
investigators (PIs).
The first call in the new Young Scientists' Program will focus on sustainability related projects in all areas of research.
Proposals may be submitted in one of the following tracks:
- EWS - Early Work in Sustainability: for individual PIs without a research partner in the other country
- CIS - Collaboration in Sustainability: for binational teams of researchers with at least one PI from each country, including at least one young PI.

Topics

Sustainability-related
topics in the broadest sense.
Specific research
questions could include renewable energies, climate research, agriculture,
water and waste management; perhaps also civil construction, artificial
intelligence and all the areas that make our life on earth more
sustainable.
We also invite projects
that examine the notion of sustainability in history and modern society,
cultural approaches to and the diversity of notions in the discourse on
sustainability.
This also includes
implications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

1, 2021 – deadline for proposal submission
September
2021 – informing the applicants of the Board of Governors funding decisions
October
2021 – digitally signing the contracts
November
2021 – the Grants will commence and funds will be transferred to the
beneficiary institutions and grantees.
