Successful GIF Young Scientists' Meeting: GU-TAU Winter School 2024
Goethe University Frankfurt hosted December 3rd – 5th 2024 a joint Winter School on the topic of Adaptive Cognition in Noisy Environments . The workshop was organized by Prof. Christian Fiebach (Psychology Department, Goethe University) and Prof. Tom Schonberg (Sagol School of Neuroscience, and Faculty of life sciences, Tel Aviv University), and hosted in the newly minted building of Goethe University’s Brain Imaging Center, directed by Dr. Chris Kell. The event brought together 12 early career researchers (ECR) from Israel and 13 ECRs from across Germany. Four Israeli PIs (Prof. Aya Meltzer-Asscher, Prof. Shlomit Yuval Greenberg, Prof. Roy Mukamel, and Prof. Tom Schonberg) and five German PIs (Prof. Melissa Vo, Dr. Marieke Schölvinck, Prof. Chris Kell, Prof. Erwan David, Prof. Stefan Debener) gave talks on the topic of their expertise ranging from attention, language, motor control to novel research methods including virtual reality, mobile EEG and research in monkeys and rodents. Beyond the diverse array of lectures, the event included multiple opportunities for active small group activities as well as networking opportunities.
The Winter School was funded by the German Israeli Foundation, the German U15 association, the Minerva center for human intelligence in immersive, augmented and mixed realities at Tel Aviv University and by the Lowy International school also at Tel Aviv University.
