Exciting Job Opportunity @ the German Israeli Foundation
GIF – the German Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research & Development seeks to fill the position of Scientific Manager.
Reporting directly to the GIF Director, responsibilities of this hire include (in alphabetical order):
- Assists in making the right information available to the right people at the right time, to ensure that the foundation team understands and can learn from current and past initiatives and strategies.
- Core program documentation maintenance (i.e., Nexus)
- Event content (see GYSM series)
- Partners with initiative team members to support the development of written and other necessary materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Post award scientific (impact) monitoring: Reviews reports, deliverables and milestones for completeness and coordinates programmatic analysis for subsequent payments.
- Program manager (SIP program)
- Providing public access to our science (Stories)
- Scientific Peer-review processes (overall process) management
The Scientific Manager is a key contact point for researchers, advisors, (secondary for peer-reviewers, and institutional contacts). We are looking for the following skill set (in alphabetical order):
Must-haves:
- Ability to complete projects accurately and within deadlines.
- Ability to convey necessary information accurately, listen effectively, and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Capacity to comprehend and interpret agency rules, regulations, policies, and laws regarding sponsored research.
- Earned PhD or MD degree; or in extraordinary circumstances can demonstrate deep scientific knowledge and appreciation
- Demonstrated excellent computer (e.g., CRM and MS Office), information and internet skills
- Demonstrated excellent mother-tongue command of spoken and written English
- Demonstrated Hebrew language – expert level
- Solid understanding of the Israeli science/academia environment – as this position is based in Israel
- Knowledge of international peer-review processes
- Proficient collaborative, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter: organized, detail-oriented, motivated, and independent – takes initiative!
- Strong sense of ethics and integrity
- Talent to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and to interact with people at all levels diplomatically, tactfully, and professionally
- Team player
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with the Germany science/academia environment
- Five years of overall experience in grants management or operations in a non-profit, philanthropic, or education setting.
- Proficiency in German language
The full-time position is based in Israel and is primarily a work-from-home position. You must have a quiet work environment and a strong internet connection.
Some travel to Germany may be required. This position does not currently oversee associates. We work as a team.
