Workshop on CO₂ Conversion to Value-Added Chemicals and Fuels
In September 2025, leading scientists from Technische Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Darmstadt and Bar-Ilan University gathered for a GIF-funded workshop on innovative CO₂ conversion technologies. The participants explored new ways to transform emissions into sustainable fuels and valuable chemicals while strengthening Israeli-German scientific collaboration.

The workshop brings together leading academic institutions from Germany and Israel—Technische Universität Berlin and Bar-Ilan University—to address one of the most pressing global challenges: the reduction of CO₂ emissions. With a focus on cutting-edge research areas including catalysis, CO₂ capture and utilization, mechanistic studies, and AI-driven modeling, the workshop aims to foster scientific exchange among emerging researchers.

Friends, Enemies, Frenemies: Ambivalences of Jewish-Muslim Relations
Location: Heidelberg, Germany | Dates: January 27-28, 2025
Research on Jewish-Muslim relations is slowly shifting from the meta-narratives of “eternal conflict” and “golden ages of coexistence” towards more complex theoretical frameworks, including cultural entanglement, mutual influences and transculturation. In this Heidelberg-based GIF Young Scientists Meeting, the participants will contribute to this emerging research agenda by highlighting ambivalence as a crucial element of Jewish-Muslim relations.
