Willkommen and ברוכה הבאה to new GIF Board Member Prof. Ingrid Mertig
With great pleasure we welcome Prof. Ingrid Mertig as new member of Board of Governors of the German-Israeli Foundation.
As a renowned physicist, she will contribute her expertise to the Scientific Council of the GIF Board.
Prof. Mertig leads the research group for Quantum Theory of Solids at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Her research interests include density functional theory; transport theory; theory of magnetism; physics of nanostructures; spintronics; topological properties of solids.
Among her numerous professional activities, she has served as member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics, of the German Council of Science and Humanities, and most recently, of the Board of Governors RWTH Aachen and the Leibniz Association Senate Competition Committee.
