Background:
About 4 million individuals worldwide suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) comprising Crohn’s Disease (CD) and Ulcerative colitis (UC). Industrialized countries such as Israel and Germany have an especially high incidence of IBD. The gut microbiome, host genetics as well as intestinal infections are critical factors that determine if an individual is at risk to develop IBD.

This workshop is intended to bring together basic and clinical scientists in the fields of infectious diseases and inflammatory bowel diseases in order to foster scientific exchange and to form new collaborations for translational projects between these fields and between Israel and Germany.

- Prof. Eran Elinav (Weizmann, Israel)
- Prof. Omry Koren (BIU, Israel)
- Prof. Claudia Günther (Erlangen, Germany)
- Prof. Philip Rosenstiel (Kiel, Germany)
- Prof. Till Strowig (Braunschweig, Germany)
